The pile foundations are inserted below the shallow soil and take the weight of the structure to the strong level of the ground .

The pile foundations are also used when the uplifting of forces are present at the site of the structure . Some foundations such as of transmission towers , offshore platform and basement mats on the water table level are subjected to uplift force . The use of pile foundations, in these type of soils resist the uplift force of the water table level.
